Article Summary

To help you track personal and business expenses faster, our scanner automatically inputs the vendor, category, and payment method for you. The scanner will improve in accuracy as you scan more receipts!

To automatically scan a receipt

For the best results, place the receipt on a contrasting background with good lighting. For example, place a light-colored receipt on top of a dark surface.

  1. Tap the blue camera button (bottom of the screen)
  2. Hover the phone over the receipt - try to capture a flat angle (tilt the phone forward if needed)
  3. A receipt preview will appear (tap any field for quick editing)

Tappable fields (tap here to expand)

  • vendor
  • category
  • payment method
  • total and tax
  • date
  • description field
  • transaction number (if enabled via workspace settings)
  • add to report
  1. Tap "Save", or "Edit" to attach more receipt images or manual cropping.

After a receipt is saved, it can be viewed in the "Transactions" tab.

Other ways to scan

Using your phone's camera

  1. Tap the blue camera button
  2. Tap the gallery icon (bottom-left)
  3. Tap "Take Photo"

From your device gallery

  1. Tap the blue camera button
  2. Tap the gallery icon (bottom-left)
  3. Tap "Choose from Gallery"
  4. Select an image to scan

Manually through "Attach Receipt"

  1. Tap the "Transactions" tab
  2. Tap "Add Transaction"
  3. Tap "Attach Receipt"

Scan a PDF file

  1. Tap the "Transactions" tab
  2. Tap "Add Transaction"
  3. Tap "Attach Receipt"
  4. Tap "PDF Upload"

Cropping images

  1. When viewing or editing a transaction, tap "View Receipt" next to the desired image
  2. Tap "Crop"
  3. Android: Press on a corner and drag it to crop ➜ Tap the checkmark (top-right) to save
  4. iOS: Tap the "↺" symbol ➜ Drag a corner to crop ➜ Tap "Choose" to save
  5. Tap the "<" symbol (top-left) to exit and tap "Save" (bottom-right) to save any changes made
