Article summary

To help with reconciling transactions, we've made it possible to merge two expense transactions. We appreciate your patience as we're still refining this feature.

Detecting Potential Duplicate Pairs

Mobile App

A duplicate pair consists of at least two transactions with the same date and total, within the past year. If one is detected, a "Potential Duplicates" section will appear in the "Dashboard" tab.

The app will consider these combinations as duplicate pairs:

  • Imported bank transactions ("New Transactions") & saved transactions ("Transactions" tab list)

  • Two saved transactions ("Transactions" tab list)

These pairs are not detected yet:

  • Two income transactions

  • Two bank transactions

  • Email transaction in review & saved transaction

  • Email transaction & bank transaction, both in review

  • Purposely duplicated transactions (via "Duplicate" button)

What Happens When Merging?

When merging two expenses, the merged expense will take these values:

  • The first expense's vendor, category, and payment method

  • The latest date

  • The highest total & tax

  • Combined reports, descriptions, and attached images

Bank transaction values will always take priority. However, you can tap and edit any value before completing the merge.

Troubleshooting

I can't see any duplicate pairs (Mobile App)

Generally, tapping the "Transactions" tab and then the "Dashboard" tab should refresh the detected duplicates. Other solutions involve force closing and opening the app. Or logging out and in to clear ignored duplicates.
