Adding a Category
To add a category through the Quick Scan UI
- Tap the blue camera icon
- Scan a receipt until the receipt preview appears
- Tap the current category
- Tap "Add Category"
- Enter a category name
- Tap "Save"
To add a category when editing an expense
- Tap the "Transactions" tab
- Tap any expense
- Tap the current category
- Tap “Add Category”
- Enter a category name
- Tap "Save"
To add a category through the web app
- Open the web app
- Click "Settings"
- Click the "Categories" tab
- Click “Add Category” (at the top)
- Customize your category (icon, category name, tax deductible)
- Tap “Add Category”
Editing a Category
To edit a category through the Quick Scan UI
- Tap the blue "Camera" icon
- Scan a receipt until the receipt preview appears
- Tap the current category
- Tap “Edit” (top right)
- Tap the ">" symbol to the right of the category to edit it
- Tap “Save”
To edit a category when editing an expense
- Tap the "Transactions" tab
- Tap an existing expense
- Tap the current category
- Tap “Edit” (top right)
- Tap the ">" symbol to the right of the category to edit it
- Tap “Save”
To edit a category through the web app
- Open the web app
- Click "Settings"
- Click the "Categories" tab
- Click the field you want to edit (icon, category name or tax deductible)
- Edit the category as desired
- Click outside of the input field
Deleting a Category
When deleting a category, the category will be deleted from all expenses that have that category. There is no confirmation when deleting a category or ability to restore a category.
To delete a category when editing an expense
- Tap the "Transactions" tab
- Tap an expense
- Tap the current category
- Tap "Edit"
- Tap the trashcan icon next to the category you want to delete
- Tap “Done”
To delete a category through the web app
- Open the web app
- Click on "Settings"
- Click the "Categories" tab
- Click the trashcan icon next to the category you want to delete
Set Tax Deductible and Non-Deductible Categories
via Mobile app
- Tap an expense (from the "Transactions" tab)
- Tap the current category
- Tap "Edit"
- Tap the ">" symbol to the right of the category to edit it
- Tap the toggle button to set whether it is deductible or not
- Tap “Save”
via Web App
- Open the web app
- Click on "Settings"
- Click the "Categories" tab
- Click the the checkbox (tax-deductible column) to set it to tax-deductible (checkmarked)
Preset Category List
Business workspaces will start with both category lists. Personal workspaces will start with only the non-deductible categories.
